Installazione (6 bisonti di una serie di 14). Sound design: Luca Richelli. Opera dedicata a tutte le minoranze etniche. L’installazione allude al massacro di Sand Creek del 29 novembre 1864. Prende il nome dal fiume che scorreva ai piedi di un accampamento di circa 600 nativi americani delle tribù Cheyenne e Arapaho, soprattutto donne e bambini indifesi, di cui oltre 150 vennero uccisi dai soldati statunitensi. Al momento dell’assalto, la maggioranza dei guerrieri indiani erano impegnati alla caccia al bisonte, principale fonte di sostentamento, simbolo sacro e pilastro fondamentale della cultura e della sopravvivenza per le tribù dei Nativi Americani.

The installation alludes to the Sand Creek Massacre of November 29, 1864. It takes its name from the river that flowed past a camp of approximately 600 Native Americans from the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, mostly defenseless women and children, of which over 150 were killed by U.S. soldiers. At the time of the assault, most of the indigenous warriors were busy hunting buffalo, their primary source of sustenance and a sacred symbol, as well as a fundamental pillar of culture and survival for Native American tribes.
